Snow Days Program

We regret that we are unable to offer the Snow Day Program for the 2016-17 school year. We do not have enough staff who live locally to be able to provide this service.

About the Program:

Meeting Waters YMCA "Snow Day Program" provides quality, enriching care for kindergarteners through 10 year-olds on days when schools are closed due to inclement weather.

When: 9am-4pm on "snow days"

Where: Oak Grove School in Brattleboro

Who: Meeting Waters YMCA Y-ASPIRE staff members Alberta Lane and Daniel Cornellier

What: Seven hours of fun... arts & craft projects, active and quiet games, sports, outdoor play, healthy snack in the morning and afternoon (provided)

Cost: $10 registration fee, $30 per day for the Snow Day Program. Enrollment in the Snow Day Program is first-come, first-served and is limited to 20 children.

While children who attend schools outside of the Brattleboro School District are welcome to participate, please note that the program at either site can only run on days when Windham Southeast Supervisory Union schools are closed.

We offer several forms of Financial Assistance.

The "Snow Day Program" was developed in 2001 by the Meeting Waters YMCA. The impetus came from a forum hosted by the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce and Windham Child Care Association during which local employers shared that attendance at work drops on Snow Days because many parents need to stay home with their children. With the support of the administrators of the Brattleboro School District, the Meeting Waters YMCA was able to respond with another vital service.
