Stewards of Children

Child sexual abuse is likely the most prevalent health problem children face, with the most serious array of consequences. In fact, 1 in 10 children will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday. This means that whether you work with youth, are a parent, or are simply a member of a community, it is highly likely that someone you know and care for has experienced, or is currently experiencing, child sexual abuse. It's going to happen whether you are prepared to deal with it or not - unless you stop it from happening. And the good news is, it can be stopped.

Stewards of Children is the only evidence-based child sexual abuse prevention training in the country.

We are offering Stewards of Children as part of Partners in Prevention, a joint initiative of the 16 Ys (including Meeting Waters YMCA) that make up the NH Alliance of YMCAs and the Granite State Children's Alliance. Through Partners in Prevention, we have the bold vision of training 5% of the adult population in New Hampshire in the two-hour "Stewards of Children" child sexual abuse prevention workshop.

Meeting Waters YMCA, the only Y serving communities in both NH and VT, offers this workshop to communities throughout its service area--for educators, parents, coaches and others that care about children. Our Executive Director, Sue Fortier, became a certified facilitator of "Stewards of Children" in March of 2014.

We offer Stewards of Children as a community service. 100% of the $10 per person fee goes to the Darkness to Light Foundation, creators of Stewards of Children, to cover the cost of the workbook each participant leaves with.
