Our service to the Springfield area began in the mid-1960s when we established a storefront Teen Center in the downtown region. It expanded in the mid-1980s when William J. Bryant, former CEO of Bryant Grinder, donated his Meeting Waters Farm to your regional YMCA. This site is now home to Lewis Day Camp, our Adventure Camps, KinderCamp, Family Camp and most of our Teambuilding and Leadership Development Retreats. Bussing from Chester and Springfield brings dozens of area kids to our camp programs each day during the summer. Many Springfield area teens and young adults hold staff positions at these camps.
In 2000 Chester-Andover Elementary School asked Meeting Waters YMCA to brings its ASPIRE after-school program to the school community. The program has been providing valuable out-of-school care for seven years now. Our service to the Springfield region has once again expanded as we reach out with programs from our new Activate Windham County public health initiative.
